Ridge Gourd Peels Chutney

This chutney has a unique, but very delicious flavour and can be eaten with biriyani, pulav, rice, chapati, roti, etc. The unique flavour of the ridge gourd peels when combined with crushed peanuts, mint leaves, coriander leaves, chillies, and some ginger makes the perfect chutney/dip! 

Ridge gourd is low in saturated fat and cholesterol, high in dietary fibre, vitamin C, riboflavin, zinc, thiamine, iron, magnesium and manganese. The nutritional value of gourd makes it suitable for maintaining optimum health and weight loss.It has excellent cooling properties.

1 cup chopped ridge gourd peel
1 tbsp oil
2 green chillies
2 tbsp roasted and crushed peanuts
1 tsp coriander powder
salt to taste
1 tsp lemon juice
a pinch turmeric powder
1 tsp oil for tempering
1 tsp mustard seeds
a pinch asafoetida
a pinch turmeric powder
1 tbsp coriander leaves
1 tbsp mint leaves
1 tsp chopped ginger


  1. Take a nonstick pan and put oil in it, when oil becomes hot put ridge gourd peel and green chillies.
  2. Cook for 10 -12 minutes on medium flame stirring continuously.
  3. Shift this into the mixer and add peanut powder,turmeric powder, coriander powder, mint leaves, coriander leaves ginger and salt and grind to a smooth paste using little water.
  4. Then take it out into a serving bowl
  5. Prepare the tempering using ingredients and pour it over the chutney.
  6. Then add lemon juice.
