Bottle Gourd Peels Chutney


This chutney has a unique, but very delicious flavour and can be eaten with pulav, chapati, roti, etc. The unique flavour of the bottle gourd peels when combined with crushed peanuts, mint leaves, coriander leaves, chillies, and some ginger makes the perfect chutney/dip!

Bottle gourd is rich in fiber and essential minerals, iron and protein. Fibre helps in preventing constipation and other digestive disorders. Use in juiced form to treat stomach acidity, indigestion and ulcers.Bottle gourd acts as an alkaline mixture. Thus, when one is suffering from burning sensation in urinary passage due to high acidity in urine, one should have bottle gourd at least once in a day.  Bottle gourd prevents excess sodium loss and also helps in preventing fatigue. Bottle gourd is commonly consumed in the juice form so that one can enjoy more nutritional benefits as compared to having it as a vegetable

1 cup chopped bottle gourd peel
1 tbsp oil
2 green chillies
2 tbsp roasted and crushed peanuts
1 tsp coriander powder
salt to taste
1 tsp lemon juice
a pinch turmeric powder
1 tsp oil for tempering
1 tsp mustard seeds
a pinch asafoetida
a pinch turmeric powder
1 tbsp coriander leaves
1 tbsp mint leaves
1 tsp chopped ginger


  1. Take a nonstick pan and put oil in it, when oil becomes hot put bottle gourd peel and green chillies.
  2. Cook for 10 -12 minutes on medium flame stirring continuously.
  3. Shift this into the mixer and add peanut powder,turmeric powder, coriander powder, mint leaves, coriander leaves ginger and salt and grind to a smooth paste using little water.
  4. Then take it out into a serving bowl
  5. Prepare the tempering using ingredients and pour it over the chutney.
  6. Then add lemon juice.
  7. Serve immediately or store refrigerated.
