Multigrain Masala Oats

Being high in fibre, multigrain masala oats makes a very filling and satisfying breakfast. The combination of oats, spices, chillies, and curry leaves is one to die for! This dish is extremely flavourful and easy to make. It is as healthy as it is tasty, and makes a good after school snack too!

Oats absorbs extra fat and flushes it out of the system. Hence, it helps cure constipation and regulates gastro-intestinal functions. A diet that is rich in oats may also help stabilise blood glucose levels, which could help people with non-insulin dependent diabetes. Being a good source of calcium, it helps healthy development of bones and teeth.

Ingredients
2 cups multigrain oats
2-3 chopped green chillies
1 tbsp oil
1 tsp mustard seeds
1/4 tsp roasted coriander and cumin powder
10-12 curry leaves
a little turmeric powder
a little chilli powder
1 tbsp chopped coriander leaves
3/4 liter water (approx.)
1 tsp lemon juice
oregano for garnish (optional)
salt to taste

Method
1. Take a deep non-stick pan and put oil in it.
2. Add the mustard seeds. When they crackle, add the chopped chillies.
3. Then, add the multigrain oats. Roast till light brown in colour and aromatic.
4. Add the curry leaves, salt and water.
5. Add the chilli powder, turmeric powder and roasted coriander and cumin powder.
6. Cook till desired consistency (5-7 minutes).
7. Add the coriander leaves and lemon juice.
8. Mix well.
9. Serve immediately. Enjoy!

Note : You can add vegetables according to your preference.
