Healthy Dal With Dill Leaves

This recipe is very delicious and it’s a twist to the regular, boring dal! It is aromatic, healthy, comforting and can be made very easily! It can be enjoyed with rice at any time of the day and this simple yet delicious recipe will make you extremely happy and satisfied. The combination of all the ingredients, with the unique taste of dill leaves makes this a unique yet delectable dish that is healthy too!

Dill is very rich in minerals, vitamin C and flavonoids. Protection against free radicals and carcinogens. An anti-bacterial spice. A flavorful way to help prevent bone loss.

Ingredients
1 cup toor dal
1/4 cup moong dal
1 bowl washed chopped dill leaves
1 tbsp oil
1/2 tsp mustard seeds
3/4 tsp chilli powder
1/4 tsp turmeric powder
1/2 tsp roasted coriander and cumin powder
1 tsp lemon juice
1 chopped tomato

Method

  1. Pressure cook the dal along with dill leaves till three whistles on low flame.
  2. When the steam escapes take out the dal from the cooker and keep aside.
  3. Take a deep pan, put oil in it.
  4. When oil becomes hot, put mustard seeds and when mustard seeds crackle add the tomato. When the tomato cooks for 2 minutes, add turmeric powder, chilli powder, roasted coriander and cumin powder and cooked dal.
  5. Add water according to required consistency. Then add the salt. Mix well.
  6. Boil for 5 minutes on medium heat.
  7. Garnish with lemon juice.
  8. Enjoy with hot rice and ghee!
